Dr. Stassart was educated at the Catholic University of Louvain in Belgium, where he was born and raised. In 1978, he immigrated to the United States and finished his residency at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in New York. In 1989, he relocated to Minnesota and finished his Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility fellowship at the University of Minnesota.
