Doctor Bio

Dr. William Gibbons is a board-certified obstetrician and gynecologist who also specializes in reproductive medicine and infertility. He specializes in infertility and reproductive endocrinology. Dr. Gibbons is a globally recognized physician who has been named to the Best Doctors in America list for the past 15 years.
Dr. Gibbons graduated from Baylor College of Medicine with a medical degree. At the Affiliated Hospitals in Houston, he completed an internship and residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Gibbons has completed a reproductive endocrinology fellowship at BCM. Dr. Gibbons joined the faculty of the University of Southern California in Los Angeles after postdoctoral studies, where he co-founded the second effective in vitro fertilization (IVF) program in the United States with two other doctors. Dr. Gibbons returned to Baylor College of Medicine as the director of the reproductive medicine fellowship and IVF program. He later became the head of BCM's Reproductive Medicine division. Dr. Gibbons is now the chair of the Obstetrics and Gynecology department at Eastern Virginia Medical School (EVMS) in Norfolk, which created the first IVF child in the United States.
He has also served as President of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine and the Society for Reproductive Endocrinology and Assisted Reproductive Technology. Dr. Gibbons is returning to Baylor College of Medicine to focus on patient care, science, and the advancement of assisted reproduction.
